O.A.R.

WOW! I thought Tom Petty rocked. These guys kicked some serious ass. Jamie, her sister Kristi and I went to their show @ the Roseland last night. The band, As Soon As, opened, but we were getting our drink on downstairs, at that time. We finished our drinks and found 2nd row center seats on the balcony. For those who are unfamiliar with the Roseland, there is a restaurant/bar on the 1st floor, the dance floor is on the 2nd floor, and there is balcony seating above the dance floor.  We watched and danced as O.A.R. put on one of the best shows I have ever seen. They are a band that used to open for 311 and they have a solid fan base of their own now. The band was so in tune with each other and the audience, that, in my opinion, caused a flawless performance. The band is very fan oriented. They would stop after a few sets and sincerely ask how they are doing and how the sound is. They wanted to make sure that each individual there was having an awesome time. I have seen uncountable live shows. Tom Petty, Dave Mathews, etc... The O.A.R. show put them all to shame. The rhythm and finesse of the bass, the voice of the lead singer, the magnificent capability of their guitarist, the smoothness of their saxophonist, and the energy of their drummer all came together, like one may hear of the sun, moon and stars, to show us all what true music sounds like.

After the show, which was from 830-1230, we went to Bar 71. Let me just say this, it was a crazy night of dancing and seeing many people in their Halloween costumes. We all had a blast. So we got home at 2:30 am and fell asleep by 3. I then woke up @ 6am to get to work by 7. So about ½ here, I realized that I forgot to set my clocks back an hour. So I got to work @ 6am. I would have much rather had the extra hour of sleep. LOL.

Sounds like a great show, man. Something tells me that I probably would have liked them live. Thanks for sharing, bro.

One thing I forgot to mention....

I almost had a heart attack when the lead singer came back out after their encore and said, "Hey so there is a band that we used to tour with that is in town playing a show, in my opinion, they are one of the best bands around. You may not have heard of them, but I gaurentee you will know the song they play."

So my heart is really beating fast because I know they used to tour with 311, and I know that 311 is playing that same venue the next night.

The he decides to annouce the band, "Give it up for (i cannot remember the exact name of the band) So and So and the Philadelphias." I was in utter shock. Here I was totally expecting 311... and out comes a band I have never heard of, playing a song that I also have never heard of. They did kick ass though. If anyone can think of a ban that is a "guys name and the the Philadelphias", or something like that, please let me know. It has been driving me crazy.

After some intense message board searching... the band was Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers. I think I was thinking Philapelphia because of the 76ers.I must have had a little too much to drink. :)
